I wrote this song in the late nineties while living in Park Slope in Brooklyn, New York. I rented the attic space of a family’s home there for the summertime.

I spent a lot of time on a school bus that summer, because I was a camp counselor for a day camp in Brooklyn. I noticed how many houses in the Park Slope area had that “lonely” feeling, and I thought about who lived in those houses when they were built a long time ago. So, I wrote a song about the spirits and the “ghosts” who occupy modern day Brooklyn, and what their experiences were like when they were alive.

I also feel that it’s a “lonely” time to be alive in 2008. Even with all the media and entertainment people have in their homes, people are still feeling like there could be more people, more friends and better experiences to have if they could just reach out to others and others could just reach out to them. A lot of modern people live in isolation, because they are reluctant to get out and greet the world of people. I think it’s too bad that people don’t connect as much in person anymore, but I know that out there somewhere are the people who each one of us longs to meet and be friends with.

I’m always searching for websites that can give me FREE and PRINTABLE sheet music, but I always find sheet music that NOT free and NOT printable If anyone has any websites that they know of that can give me access to free and printable sheet music (especially for piano) please let me know. thanks

I use pianofiles.com all of the time. You have to get a username for the sake of finding sheet music, but it’s all free. It’s mainly piano files (as the website name says) and easy to print. They are all usually PDF files or images. I also use ‘The Pianist’s Library’ at this site: http://s1.zetaboards.com/ThePianistsLibrary/index/. There is a lot of good music there. One last one I use is ‘pianoette’ at http://pianotte.szm.com/A.htm. They are in alphabetical order. All of these are free. Hope that helps!
